We are seeking a Site Superintendent to oversee our office conversion construction project in the Calgary core. The candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality in line with Kanas’ commitment to excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage all trades (Kanas staff and subcontractors), ensuring a productive, safe, positive and compliant work environment
- Consult and collaborate with project manager, coordinators, architects and engineers regarding plans, specifications and provide input and practical solutions on site
- Read and confirm blueprints, plans, drawings and ensure design is being followed
- Estimate and manage costs to stay on budget; Identify cost saving strategies
- Set goals and deadlines and monitor performance
- Prepare and manage schedules, timelines and equipment bookings
- Monitor shipments and supplies and ensure adequate inventory of goods and equipment
- Identify delays to schedule and implement recovery strategies
- Oversee change orders and ensure project is progressing on schedule
- Implement quality control procedures, and troubleshoot and resolve any constructability errors or irregularities
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor progress, quality and safety
- Deal with any emergencies efficiently and mitigate risks
- Prepare reports and provide detailed daily progress updates to project manager and senior management
- Collaborate with the safety specialist to champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with safety legislation
- Work with human resources representative in the areas of employee recruitment, performance management, conflict resolution and employee wellbeing
- Work and maintain a positive relationship with City inspectors
- Ensure Kanas maintains a good reputation in the community
- Respond to after hours emergencies and call-outs
Requirements & Skills
- 8+ years’ experience in multifamily, high rise construction experience is required
- Proven track record in site supervision of at least $20M+ project
- Journeyman Carpenter Certificate
- Previous successful construction management experience
- Fully knowledgeable of Alberta building and fire codes and regulations
- Solid understanding and ability to manage all construction trades and staff
- Able to read and interpret contracts, blueprints, drawings and plans
- Analytical and detail oriented
- Self-motivated and exceptional time management skill
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of health and safety standards and practices
- Work in various environmental and weather conditions
- CSTS and WHMIS Certifications
- Standard First Aid Certification
- Valid Alberta’s driving license and reliable transportation
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint , Timberline, Construction Software, purchasing & budgeting software
- Weekends and evening work may be required
