Job Description
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the maintenance department in a fast-paced food processing manufacturing environment. The responsibilities include facilities maintenance, production floor equipment maintenance, and maintaining inventory of parts. The Maintenance Manager will assist in producing robust preventative maintenance program while promoting and maintaining a safe working environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and manage maintenance personnel and administrative procedures for the Maintenance Department.
- Approve and verify the maintenance team scheduling, overtime, vacation and communicate absences to the Human Resources Department.
- Manage all parts ordering, inventory, and replenishment.
- Review with QC product/part used in the plant meet Food Safety requirements.
- Ensure staff are aware of food safety protocols and monitor them for compliance.
- Set, train, and follow-up with staff on Health and Safety Standards.
- Create and manage a set-up and dismantle program for production equipment.
- Manage a preventative maintenance and monitoring program.
- Manage relationships and contracts with external vendors. Supervise external contractors when they are working on the site. Ensure Vendors/Contractors abide by health and safety policies.
- In conjunction with the Human Resources Department assist for hiring and coordinate training of all new staff in the maintenance department.
- Supervise and coach the maintenance team including Electricians, Millwrights, and Maintenance Technicians. Conduct performance reviews and make recommendations for coaching, development, and merit increases.
- Work closely with production services to ensure minimum interruption in production.
- Plan and oversee all repairs and installation of equipment.
Qualifications
- 5 years’ maintenance experience preferably in the food processing industry.
- BA in Engineering - Technical diploma is required although an Engineering degree is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance and monitoring programs.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience negotiating contracts and part prices.
