Innovative Metal Works - We specialize in the Design, Fabrication and Installation of Structural Steel and Misc. Metals.
We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of structural steel projects and working closely with the project management team to ensure that project budgets are maintained. We are offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of structural steel and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing project plans and specifications to accurately estimate the cost of Structural steel/ Misc. Metal projects
- Evaluating project scope, labor, and material requirements to provide accurate cost estimates
- Communicating with architects, engineers, and project managers to identify any potential issues that may affect the project cost
- Preparing detailed take-offs and cost estimates using estimating software and spreadsheets
- Maintaining accurate records of all estimates, including pricing, quantity take-offs, and project timelines
Qualifications:
- Required minimum of 5-10 years of experience in estimating role in the structural steel industry
- Strong knowledge of structural steel, including fabrication, installation, and welding practices
- Ability to analyze and Interpret Drawings from Blueprints & PDS files with solid understanding of Architectural and Structural drawings (reading/comprehension skills) and perform quantity take-off
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Completion of post-secondary education with a diploma or degree related to Steel Management & Detailing, Construction Management, Estimating, and Construction/Architectural related education will be considered an asset
- Must have 5 years of experience in Structural Steel / Project Coordinator
- Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take new challenges
- Excellent planning and organizational skills for our fast-paced environment
- Strong technical skills and Excellent verbal/written communication
