Job Summary:
We currently have an open position for a Class 1A Driver to join our team. This role is responsible for transporting freight to and from customer locations as well as between Future Transfer locations and performing duties of a warehouse operator during slow times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive truck and deliver products to customers.
- Load trucks properly (weight distribution, etc.)
- Placard trucks according to TDG procedures
- Maintain and keep truck clean
- Plan delivery routes efficiently
- Carefully complete all documents as required
- Perform physical tasks, including lifting as driver assistance is required for deliveries
- Familiarity with Road Restrictions and farm to farm deliveries
- Availability for overtime as needed
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Valid class 1A driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract, and a minimum of 2-3 years “safe” driving experience
- Experience handling hazardous materials is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and shipping documents
- High attention to detail is essential
- Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor
- Mechanical aptitude related to the upkeep and basic maintenance of motor vehicles
- Solid written and oral communication skills
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of the team
- Safe and proper handling of all equipment and products
- Forklift experience an asset
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in both indoors and outdoors environments, including adverse weather conditions
- Physically demanding role, requiring lifting, pulling and pushing up to a maximum of 60lbs
- Shift start and end times may vary based on operational needs
