Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Controller to join a growing, project-based organization in the Lower Mainland. Reporting to C-suite, the Controller is responsible for leading the company's financial operations, reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic financial oversight with day-to-day operational management. The successful candidate will oversee accounting, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and compliance while driving continuous process improvements to support the organization's ongoing growth.
Financial Leadership
- Lead all accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger, and month-end close.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian tax legislation, payroll regulations, and statutory remittances.
- Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial governance.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.
Financial Planning & Business Partnership
- Analyze project profitability and financial performance.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve business performance and support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare financial models, forecasts, and business analyses.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and organizational financial health.
- Support project managers with financial reporting, job costing, and project lifecycle analysis.
- Provide executive leadership with timely financial insights and recommendations.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Optimize financial systems and workflows to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Develop and maintain accounting procedures, internal controls, and standard operating procedures.
- Support ongoing enhancements to ERP and financial systems.
- Ensure financial data integrity across integrated business platforms.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Requirements
- CPA designation is preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Previous Controller or Assistant Controller experience preferred.
- Experience working in a construction, contracting, manufacturing, or other project-based environment is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, GST/HST, PST, payroll legislation, and corporate tax requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems and integrated accounting software.
- Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
- Experience with project accounting, job costing, and revenue recognition is considered an asset.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting or finance teams.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
