Overview
We are seeking an adaptable Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA).
This ECEA will be responsible for supporting the teachers, playing with children, and cleaning up after art activities and meals, and following the cleaning lists at the end of the day. Ideal candidates will have experience working in licensed daycare in BC.
Duties
- Learn quickly during your job training. Prior experience is necessary.
- Read our manuals to understand our daycare, what is expected of you, and that you must comply with the BC Child Care Licensing Regulations.
- Play with and speak with the children in positive ways promote a positive self-esteem.
- Assist with classroom routines such as snack time and outdoor play. You must dress for the weather, and be able to kneel on the ground outside.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring safety at all times.
- Communicate effectively with teachers.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment throughout the day.
- Follow the cleaning checklists and at the end of the day.
Experience, Skills, and Training
- You must have worked directly with groups of children in licensed BC facilities. Volunteer experience is acceptable.
- Your references must include at least one from a licensed BC daycare.
- You must have taken MORE THAN ONE ECEA COURSE.
- You must have taken at least one ECE professional development workshop. Look up what that means.
- Experience with children with ADHD, autism or other special needs will be considered a definite asset.
- You must seriously want a career in childcare or education, and plan to further your education.
- You must be ok with working with children outside in all weather.
- You must be ok with cleaning.
- Having enthusiasm and energy with the children is an asset.
Coastal College training alone is not acceptable.
