We are currently seeking compassionate, dependable, and dedicated Child & Youth Workers to join our Overnight Awake team in Norfolk County.
Position Summary
As an Overnight Awake Child & Youth Worker, you will provide active overnight supervision and support to children and youth with emotional, behavioural, developmental, and complex care needs. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of residents throughout the night while maintaining a calm, structured, and therapeutic environment.
Applicants must be available to work overnight awake shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide active overnight supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
- Complete regular safety checks and document observations throughout the shift.
- Respond appropriately to behavioural, emotional, or medical concerns using trauma-informed practices.
- Implement individualized care plans, behaviour support strategies, and crisis intervention techniques.
- Complete accurate documentation including shift notes, medication records (where applicable), and incident reports.
- Assist with evening, overnight, and early morning routines as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and external professionals.
- Participate in team meetings, ongoing training, and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with Home and Haven policies, Quality Assurance Measures (QAM), and all applicable legislation.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Child & Youth Care, Developmental Services, Social Work, Behavioural Science, Community & Justice Services, Social Service Worker, Psychology, or a related field OR equivalent experience supporting children and youth with complex needs.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR certification.
- Current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certification (or willingness to obtain during orientation).
- Current and clear Broad Record Police Check and CPIN.
- Valid Ontario Driver's Licence with a satisfactory driver's abstract.
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism and sound judgment during overnight shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting children and youth with autism, developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or trauma.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, and behaviour management strategies.
- Medication administration experience is considered an asset.

- 8-hour overnight awake shifts
