Position: Wellness Worker
Reports to: Health Director
Hours: Full-time/permanent
Wage Range: $25.00-29.00/hour

Job Summary
Reporting to the General Manager/Health Director, the Wellness Worker is responsible for all planning and activities associated with preventing and reducing substance misuse in the Stella Community. Activities include assessing the needs of the client, setting up a treatment plan, co-hosting group counseling sessions and coordinating self-help groups in the community.
Responsibilities:
Meet and report regularly with Health Director or Band leadership as requested
Attend all band meetings and other health and wellness meetings as directed
Knowledge of local area resources for both mental health and substance abuse support
Consult with traditional healers and knowledge holders for ceremony and info
Keep client files on all people that they work with
All schedules of community events and individual counselling must be kept updated
Must have annual plan on how to remain current with modalities of addiction prevention and intervention
Regularly distribute written material on substance abuse prevention
Hold educational workshops
Promote and host/co-host cultural activities aimed at increasing cultural knowledge and pride
Promote and host recreational and social activities that promote a substance-use-free lifestyle
Aftercare planning and support
Special Requirements
- Initial and ongoing employment is subject to submission of Criminal Record Check. Employees are expected to sign an SFN Code of Conduct and Ethics contract, and SFN Oath of Confidentiality
- Knowledge and awareness of SFN Culture/Traditions
- Interpersonal skills-maintain confidentiality
- Strong working knowledge of various interventions for substance misuse prevention and intervention in an individual and group context
- Strong skills in individual assessment and treatment planning for individual client intervention
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- Certification through the Indigenous Accreditation Board of Canada, minimum level CICSAW
- Use of computer and accessories; Window operating system, various software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe.
- Clean Criminal Record Check.
