Adora Bright Pediatric Therapy Services is seeking an energetic, dependable, and compassionate Child & Youth Worker to join our multidisciplinary pediatric team on a part-time basis.
Adora Bright operates across two locations in York Region and provides multidisciplinary services to children and youth with diverse developmental, behavioural, social, emotional, and learning needs.
This position is specifically focused on supporting children and youth ages 8–14 during our evening and Saturday programming. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with school-aged children and teens and can build positive relationships while supporting independence, emotional regulation, social development, and participation.
ABA experience is an asset but is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children and youth ages 8–14 during evening and Saturday programming.
- Facilitate structured recreational, social, life-skills, and group activities.
- Support independence, emotional regulation, communication, social interaction, and age-appropriate life skills.
- Engage children and youth through movement, creative activities, games, collaborative activities, and interest-based programming.
- Support routines, transitions, problem-solving, and successful participation in individual and group settings.
- Implement strategies and recommendations provided by the appropriate clinical professionals.
- Provide positive behaviour support using a respectful, child-centred approach.
- Maintain appropriate supervision and ensure safety throughout programming.
- Communicate professionally with team members and families.
- Complete required documentation and incident reporting.
- Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and workplace standards.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Behavioural Science, Psychology, Developmental Services, Recreation Therapy, or a related field.
- Experience working with school-aged children and/or youth, preferably ages 8–14.
- Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, executive functioning, emotional regulation, or other developmental needs is an asset.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, particularly with older children and youth.
- Ability to remain calm, supportive, and professional during challenging situations.
- Comfortable supporting both individual and group programming.
- Reliable and able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check required.
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
