As a Site Reliability Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for the architecture, maintenance, and reliability of our websites. Working as part of the Loblaw Digital technology team working closely with Devops, support and developers. The primary goal of our team is to build & improve a world-class, multi-channel e-commerce platform leveraging software principles for automated management of the infrastructure.
The prime focus of this role is development to automate tools and infrastructure to run the e-commerce enterprise. The role will embrace the SRE philosophy and principles.
What You'll Do:
Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services—from inception and design, through deployment, operation and refinement.
Leverage automation for reliability and consistency of operations on a large clusters of machines
Participate in DevOps/QA/architecture meetings on system integration decisions regarding monitoring tools to use and automation management.
Lead and participate in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning to ensure availability, low latency and capacity
Profile e-commerce application to identify performance bottlenecks using available tools (AppDynamics, Splunk, OEM) to address performance impacts before production
Work with the support team to automate system administration tools (daily running/upgrades/tuning/maintenance) of Linux, Apache, Tomcat and Hybris environments
Oracle SQL statement tuning for database bottlenecks to ensure performance for applications is maintained to achieve the business defined SLA’s for overall performance
Implement monitoring tool alerts with automated actions based on SLO/SLA metrics.
Monitoring tool selection and implementation.
Work closely with DevOps team regarding CI/CD pipeline and productivity tools (Bamboo, Ansible, Bitbucket, GitLab)
Deployment automation augmentation (validation, rolling restarts, no-downtime approach)
Cloud engineering – leveraging multiple vendors (AWS, Azure, GCP) work with DevOps and Development to leverage offerings to address business needs.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar
3+ years of experience in Software Engineering
1+ years’ experience in object oriented design
2-3 years professional coding experience in Java
Experience in multiple cloud vendors (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design.
Working knowledge in multiple areas covering Java, scripting, scheduling, Linux, Oracle, Network, firewalls, load balancers, SAN and backup
Knowledge documentation and analysis of incidents to SLA’s and uptime metrics
Experienced in automation programming/scripting
Experienced managing large clustered applications
Experience in managing incidents to root cause analysis
Systematic problem solving approach with good communication
Occasional round the clock support of live eCommerce operations
Knowledge repository documentation creation and maintenance
