FTE: 1.0 Temporary

Location: North Vancouver Distributed Learning (located at Mountainside Secondary)

Start/End Dates: Start ASAP / End June 30, 2019

Salary: Salary and Benefits as per the Teachers’ Collective Agreement

NATURE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The successful applicant will use expertise in curriculum, teaching & learning, and technology to support youth and adult students in an interactive, self-paced online environment. Responsibilities include working collaboratively with students, families, mainstream teachers & counsellors, and administrators; developing New Curriculum course materials & assessment in Moodle; and providing online and face to face support.

This assignment includes some scheduled time outside of regular school hours, including afternoon & evening face to face and e-Campus hours.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor of Education Degree (Secondary) specializing in Biology and Mathematics.

Successful experience teaching Biology, Junior Science and Junior Math at the Secondary level.

Successful experience developing New Curriculum courses

Successful experience with online learning as a teacher and/or student

Experience using Moodle or other online learning platform is desirable

Superior work ethic and social emotional competencies, excellent reflective judgment, and commitment to building effective learning communities.

Comprehensive understanding of curriculum.

Confidence and proficiency in using instructional organizers, concepts, and strategies that actively engage all students in learning.

Ability to positively influence instruction, curriculum, assessment, and social-emotional learning practices in a collaborative environment.

Knowledge and understanding of the application of relevant computer technologies to teaching and learning.

Willingness to be involved in professional development, with an ongoing commitment to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to enhance the school as a learning community.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Possession of a BC Teaching Certificate
Membership in the BC Teacher Regulation Branch.
A member of the North Vancouver Teachers’ Association and the BC Teachers’ Federation.

SALARY & BENEFITS:
Earnings range from $46,091 - 89,018 per annum for full time work (pro-rated for part time), depending on the TQS category and experience level of the teacher.
