Job brief
We are currently looking for Maintenance Technician/handyman to join our Food Manufacturing facility based in Mississauga, Ontario. In this position, the Maintenance Technician /Handyman will report to the Facility Manager directly and to the Facility Supervisor indirectly.
Responsibilities
· Assist production team with set-up, changeover and in operation of food packaging equipment, R085, manual sealer and vacuum tumblers.
· Ensure all health and safety and work procedures are followed.
· Contribute to projects to improve efficiency using automation and ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
· Work with our Quality control teams to ensure all automated equipment meets, if not exceeds, regulatory standards.
· Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals to perform scheduled preventive maintenance of all the equipment using the appropriate job plans and procedures.
· Train new hires according to training plan for machine operation when required.
· Conducts routine production Line maintenance and repairs such as replacement of belts, cleaning, and repair of filling heads, troubleshooting performance issues.
· Troubleshoot any mechanical, pneumatic, or electrical equipment failures and repair/adjust them using hand/power tools and work along with Production for alternatives options during downtime.
· Troubleshoot, adjust, repair, or replace components such as proximity sensors, photo eyes, PLC’s, HMI of all machines.
· Responsible for building/facility needs such as painting, cleaning, fire/safety equipment, light bulb changes, and other general facility needs.
· Maintain and store department inventory, including spare parts and keeping records documented.
· Other Duties as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications:
· Eight (8) years of (hands-on) work experience in manufacturing and processing food equipment.
· You must live 20 -30minutes away and be available for emergencies and can work split shifts and weekends as needed.
· You must be handy with all basic repairs and maintenance of a building.
· Must have knowledge to read electric schematic diagram.
· Effective communication and people skills
· Excellent communication, written and reading knowledge of the English language.
· Able to work weekends when required.
· Strong multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills with an eye for continuous improvement.
· Strong ability and ability to drive action.
· Strong mechanical aptitude coupled with troubleshooting skills.
· Good understanding of food safety standards and GMPs.
