Are you interested in using your specialized skills to support Albertan’s fighting cancer? Cancer Care Alberta is currently searching for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton. Reporting to the Unit Managers of Surgical Services the RN will join a fast-paced team that provides specialized, ambulatory clinic and inpatient services in support of oncology treatments. Using their operating room (OR) experience the successful RN will be confident and competent to rotate between the roles of circulating and scrubbing in for surgical procedures. The RN must bring dynamic written and verbal communication, as well as proven collaboration skills, as they frequently engage in consultations with colleagues, interdisciplinary health care professionals and patients in an OR setting. The RN will also bring high attention to detail as they lead and follow established processes that are crucial to successful patient outcomes. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:
A minimum of one-year current nursing experience in an Operating Room and PACU setting. Completion of Registered Perioperative Nursing course. Ability to withstand the physical demands of the operating room such as lifting, pulling, pushing, transferring, transporting patients and to stand for extended periods of time in the Operating Room. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Experience prioritizing to ensure that emergency situations are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. CNA certification. Surgical-oncology experience. Surgical Daycare experience. PACU experience. Pediatric patient experience.
