Human Resource Business Partner
The Human Resource (HR) Business Partner provides HR advice, guidance, and support to CUPS staff and leaders, executing HR initiatives that align with the organization’s strategic direction. This role will focus on the development and execution of HR activities, including total compensation, employee relations, policy development, recruitment, and performance management. The HR Business Partner works closely with the HR Director on continuous improvement initiatives and strategic HR programs, fostering an effective, safe, and respectful workplace that supports CUPS’s trauma-informed and integrated care approach.
Leadership & Partnership
- Support and influence leader development through one-on-one coaching and participation in leadership development programs across the organization
- Coach leaders and employees in conflict resolution, performance improvement, and communication strategies, modeling best practices in all personal interactions at CUPS
- Support leaders and employees in the implementation of psychological health and wellness in the workplace, promoting CUPS’s commitment to worker well-being
- Identify and propose continuous improvement opportunities within HR policies and practices to enhance operational effectiveness.
Organizational Alignment and Performance
- Partner with the HR Director to implement and deliver strategic HR initiatives and special projects that align with organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with leaders to ensure that performance management processes are fair, transparent, and aligned with CUPS’s values, providing coaching and support for corrective actions and off-boarding discussions.
- Execute CUPS annual salary report assessment and creation of recommendations to CUPS Comp plan based on market data and internal analysis to ensure competitiveness, equity, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Participate in recruitment efforts by participating in interviews, coaching leaders through hiring processes, ensuring positive candidate and manager experiences.
- Collaborate with HR colleagues via suggestions for development and continuous improvement of in-house training, onboarding programs, and health and safety initiatives.
- Support hard to fill recruitment processes, working with organizational leaders and external contacts to obtain qualified candidates for specialized roles
- Develop and update HR policies as requested, ensuring they remain relevant, compliant, and aligned with CUPS’s values and practices.
Stakeholder Relations:
- Create and maintain strong partnerships with CUPS operational and business support leaders, developing a deep understanding of business and leader needs
- Develop and maintain collaborative and accountable working relations with internal CUPS colleagues to strengthen communication flow and cross-departmental understanding
- Work in tandem with leaders developing strong and supportive relations to assist in the delivery of people program across CUPS
- Work in collaboration with HR team members, assisting in all areas when required to support team objectives
- Act as ambassador of CUPS purpose, ambition, and values both internally and externally
Background required:
- University Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related area of study
- 6-9 years experience of relevant Human Resources experience
- CPHR Designation
- Strong understanding of Non-profit sector and business practices
- Demonstrated ability to integrate HR policy and legislative requirements with approachable and supportive communication style to support CUPS workplace culture
- Demonstrated understanding of total compensation, preferably within a Non-Profit environment
- Proven skill in leader and employee coaching, conflict management and/or mediation
- Strong skill in database management, HRIS and MS Office application
