About the Role
We are looking for a Journeyman Truck and Trailer Mechanic to keep up our level of commitment to safety and customer service. The truck and trailer mechanic will be responsible to inspect, diagnose, repair and service mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of commercial transport trucks, and trailers.
We have 2 positions available each in Chetwynd and Mackenzie, BC
Duties
- Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing truck and trailer bodies, systems, and components.
- Performing preventative maintenance measures on trucks and trailers.
- Assembling and dissembling vehicle engines and cleaning the fuel tanks.
- Maintaining hubs and axles and adjusting or replacing them when required.
- Inspecting, servicing, and replacing trailer parts, including requesting tire changes.· Checking and repairing the brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Testing all systems and equipment for performance issues.
- Ensuring that trailers meet the Canadian Road Transportation safety requirements.
- Meet requirements of Field Level Hazard and Job Hazard assessments
- Complete work orders.
- Participate in all required Health & Safety Training.
- Comply with the Health & Safety program and practices.
- Performance of daily duties in a manner conducive to a safe workplace.
- Compiling inspection reports, documenting repairs, and reporting all findings to management.
- Responding as soon as possible to queries.
- Maintain good housekeeping.
- Always maintain a professional company image.
Qualifications & Skills
- Red Seal Technician preferred.
- Valid CVI inspectors certificate preferred
- A minimum of 2-year post qualification experience as a trailer mechanic.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, such as hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical systems.
- Extensive experience with vehicle diagnostic equipment.
- Exceptional understanding of mechanical and technical information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Manual dexterity, experience with hand tools, and physical strength.
- Valid Drivers License, with clear drivers abstract.
Schedule
- Full-time position with a 7 on 7 off rotation, working 12-hour shifts.
Wages
- Overtime compensation for any hours worked beyond 8 hours daily.
- Comprehensive benefits package available after three months of employment.
- Hourly wage based on experience, ranging from $45 per hour to $50 per hour.
