Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a positive and energetic Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with culinary passion, who possesses a strong commitment to food safety and quality standards, and has the ability to manage and inspire a team in a high-volume kitchen.
Responsibilities:
- Lead by example, fostering a positive and high-energy kitchen environment.
- Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence in coaching and leading the kitchen team.
- Ensure high food safety and quality standards are maintained at all times.
- Manage bill times and positively liaison with FOH partners.
- Hands-on involvement in prep and service execution.
- Monitor and control food costs while contributing to cost-saving initiatives.
- Knowledgeable on Labour control and how best to motivate their team.
- Utilize Excel and other computer admin tools for effective financial tracking
- Work with Chef team to create features and special menus
- Contribute to menu development initiatives.
- Creatively play with ingredients within budget.
- Impart culinary knowledge to the next generation.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in high-volume culinary services.
- Strong knowledge of food cost management.
- Experience in menu development is a plus but can be trained.
- Red Seal certification or applicable degree is preferred.
