Our studio is growing, and we are looking for an Intermediate Interior Designer to join our team to contribute their technical skills and creativity to our projects. In this role, you will be the key player in the full life cycle of our projects from concept to construction documents and drawings to FF&E selection and procurement.
Responsibilities
- Take responsibility and assist in projects from the preliminary design phase through to documentation, implementation and project completion
- Collaborate with the team to develop creative, unique and exciting designs
- Participate in client meetings and presentations, contributing your design expertise
- Provide accurate space planning that reflects the functional requirements and design intentions of the project
- Prepare documentation for the selection, specification and procurement of FF&E fixtures, including detailed layout drawings and schedules
- Create and manage contract documents, including preliminary, tender and construction packages
- Maintain strong client relationships throughout the design process
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Interior Design, Architecture or equivalent
- 2 - 4 years in professional experience within the design field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Software Skills including SketchUp, Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent understanding of shop drawings, product cut sheets and installation manuals
- Familiarity with architectural graphic standards and construction industry practices
- Knowledge of building codes and technical standards
- General understanding of interdisciplinary design integration
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Effective design, time and priority management
- Ability to work well under pressure independently and in a team environment
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able to reliably commute to work each day
