Equation Staffing is currently recruiting an experienced Operations Superintendent to oversee the day to-day operations of an industrial processing facility in the Rocky View SE area of Calgary AB.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while meeting production, quality, regulatory, and financial objectives. The successful candidate will provide leadership to supervisors and frontline teams while driving continuous improvement across plant operations.
Salary: $120,000 per year (bonuses, paid vacation and benefits offerd)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend availability as required
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee overall plant operations, including production, equipment maintenance, and yard activities.
- Plan and allocate personnel, equipment, and raw materials to meet production targets.
- Lead, mentor, and support supervisors and frontline teams.
- Monitor operational KPIs and identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
- Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
- Lead and actively participate in site Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta Occupational Health & Safety requirements, environmental regulations, quality standards, and internal procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture focused on risk awareness, incident prevention, and accountability.
- Analyze production data, labour utilization, and operating costs.
- Support longer-term planning related to facility expansion, equipment upgrades, and operational improvements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility.
- Provide operational support during occasional weekend shifts when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial operations, including experience supervising and managing teams.
- Experience within manufacturing, oil & gas, waste management, environmental services, or a similar industrial environment.
- Proven experience leading multiple teams, including supervisors and frontline employees.
- Strong understanding of Alberta OHS legislation and experience leading workplace safety initiatives.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting production or process equipment.
- Experience with operational planning, resource allocation, production targets, and KPI monitoring.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple operational priorities.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Windows.
- Experience with production reporting systems is considered an asset.
- Trade certification, Engineering Technology diploma, or equivalent technical education is preferred but not required.
