Our client, a well-established marine and civil contractor based on Vancouver Island, BC, is seeking a Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of marine and civil infrastructure projects valued up to approximately $5M.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage marine and civil construction projects from award through to completion, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules while proactively identifying and resolving project risks and delays.
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, budgets, and progress billings to ensure strong financial performance.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, materials, equipment, and internal resources to support efficient project execution.
- Prepare and negotiate subcontract agreements, purchase orders, change orders, and pricing for extra work.
- Review daily project reports, labour productivity, and cost controls while supporting field operations throughout project execution.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Work closely with Superintendents and field crews to provide technical support and develop creative solutions to site issues.
- Identify contractual risks, potential claims, and project challenges, communicating recommendations to senior leadership.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience delivering marine, heavy civil, or infrastructure construction projects.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, contract administration, cost control, and change management.
- Experience managing projects valued up to approximately $5M.
- Comfortable taking a hands-on approach to project delivery and working closely with field operations.
- Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- PMP designation is considered an asset but is not required.
