Under the direction of the Manager, Technical Training, the Technical Trainer supports business activities through specialized technical knowledge and equipment applications. Acting as a technical resource, this position contributes by providing a deeper understanding of equipment workings, through scheduled classroom and shop classes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Keeping up to date with equipment changes and developments as related to service requirements by utilizing provided training manuals and literature.
Providing training to SMS personnel and customers on maintenance and repair of Komatsu construction and mining equipment.
Assembling and teaching specific technical training courses relating to the equipment supported by SMS; course content may either be developed internally or provided by the manufacturer.
Please note, this position may be based out of Fort McMurray or Edmonton areas, depending on the successful candidate. A competitive compensation package is offered.
A strong mechanical and/or engineering orientation is required with preference given to individuals with a minimum 5 years’ experience in the mining or construction industry. Additional qualifications include:
Journeyperson ticket in Heavy Equipment Technician or related trade preferred
Experience repairing Komatsu construction and/or mining equipment
Computer literate and able to demonstrate proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft programs
Excellent communication skills
Ability to present in front of an audience of tradespeople
Willingness to learn new technologies as SMS will be providing training to the successful applicant
Ability to travel to various SMS branches within Western Canada and the Northwest Territories, and to the USA or Germany for train the trainer type training
