The Alberta Health Services facility in Vegreville is the Vegreville Care Centre, a seniors housing facility which allows for 60 Long Term Care residents. The newly designed facility has Cottages built within, allowing for a more home like atmosphere for both patients and their families. Reporting to the Care Manager, the Health Care Aide provides patient care services as a member of a health care team, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The Health Care Aide participates in the delivery of quality patient care by assisting with basic personal care and hygiene, lifting and transferring of patients, patient nutrition and feeding patients as necessary, changing linens, gathering equipment, restocking supplies, and portering patients and supplies as necessary. Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic. As a Health Care Aide (HCA) - Nursing Attendant, you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
