What we need:
As a member of the inter-professional team, you will provide support to the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapist in the inpatient unit and outpatient services in the delivery of quality patient and family-centred care. Specifically, your areas of responsibility will be as follows.
Under the supervision of a Physiotherapist, activities will include:
Carrying out a developed patient exercise program
Gait and balance training
Conducting exercise groups
Application of modalities within the scope of practice
Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, activities will include:
Implementing individual and group treatment programs
Designing and making assistive devices to improve ADL and cognitive functioning
The successful candidate will work 8hr day shifts and may include weekend shifts on a part time basis. Schedules may change based on operational needs
Band UCS 12: $25.87 - $30.19 per hour
What you bring to MSH:
Graduate of the Rehabilitation/Physiotherapy/Occupational Assistant program(s)
Related previous experience or sound knowledge of the rehabilitation/physiotherapy/occupational/ recreation therapy assistant role
Previous experience working with the geriatric population is preferred; seating experience would be an asset
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the members of the interdisciplinary team
Evidence of self-direction and flexibility in your work approach
BCLS certification is an asset
Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
