What will you work on?
The Director, Entertainment Finance is responsible for both the reporting and analysis for Spin Master’s innovative and growing Entertainment Creative Centre (including Production, Distribution, Licensing and Merchandising, G&A and Franchise) as well as supporting the business needs for the Entertainment Creative Centre.
How will you create impact?
Financial Management: Produce all Entertainment financial monthly, quarterly and annual reporting in line with internal timelines; monitor and explain key variances; monitor internal and third party reporting ensuring that all contractual reporting obligations are fulfilled; financial statement preparation; monitor overhead bill-backs; monitor and review revenue recognition matters and ensure processes are followed in conformance with IFRS.
Accounting, Audit and Tax: Prepare monthly, quarterly and year end reporting requirements for the Production, Distribution, Licensing and Merchandising, G&A and Franchise groups into SML; Lead the quarterly analysis and reporting of Entertainment’s P&L (TED analysis) into Corporate Finance; Manage all Production company’s interim and post audit T2 filings and year end amalgamations; responsible for monitoring Tax Credit updates and changes; Review applications for federal and provincial tax credits for each of SME’s projects; monitor tax filings for all levels of taxation and ensure tax credits are filed and collected timeously; evaluate and provide recommendations to maximize corporate and project-specific tax benefits. Manage the Amalgamation of Production companies including monthly reporting into SML; ensure final preparation of the books for all single purpose companies owned or controlled by Spin Master for audit purposes. Lead the preparation and completion of quarterly reviews and the annual audit by SM’s external auditors.
Business Support: support the creation and communication of key financial and business performance through the use of reports and dashboards for both the Entertainment and Spin Master senior leadership teams; support the creation and communication of Greenlight Packages/Presentations for approval; work closely with and support the Legal, Creative, Development and Production groups within Entertainment
FP&A/Treasury: Support the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and estimates for Distribution, L&M, Franchise, Development and G&A entities and Entertainment as a whole. Identify, explain and monitor key variances against budgets and forecasts; prepare and review cash flow forecasts on a regular basis; ensure all receivables from the Licensing and TV Distribution businesses are accounted for correctly and collected timeously
Internal Control: Build a strong internal control mindset and ensure internal controls over financial reporting, internal authority levels and other policies and procedures are developed and maintained in line with public company standards.
General: Provide support to the VP, Entertainment Finance on all financial and business support matters for the Entertainment creative centre. Supporting strategic analysis as required by, the CFO, President Entertainment, or the Entertainment executive team.

What are your skills and experience?
10+ years’ experience in full cycle accounting, budgeting and forecasting, preferably within a public co. environment where monthly and quarterly milestones, internal controls, processes, policies and procedures are important
Prior experience in a similar role in the Entertainment, Film/Animation industry.
Knowledge/experience in SAP, EP and Payroll.
Knowledge of CAVCO and Provincial Tax Credit systems.
Post graduate degree or professional accounting designation
