This temporary contract is expected to continue for six months.
As a mail clerk in the Health and Dental Claims Department, your primary objective will be to ensure accurate, timely and efficient delivery and filing of Health and Dental claims to the team/individuals. All duties must be performed effectively as these are important first steps in the Health and Dental claims operation.
You will be accountable for:
Opening, sorting, date stamping and distributing to the appropriate area, any mail not received through our Corporate Mail Services department
Handling outgoing mail to ensure documents are sent to the correct locations
Sorting and delivering incoming faxes to appropriate area
Scanning claim requests within our office and to various locations
Daily and frequent filing which may include: daily claim batches, batches/claims returned from other office locations, reject to history claims, claims and batches returned from the Audit Department
Boxing up batches/files to be sent to the Records Centre. Preparing an excel batch report for the records Centre and for internal use
Re-routing mail/claims to the appropriate location if received in our office in error
Reviewing drug claims to ensure completeness prior to sending to our Third Party Payor
Maintaining office supplies – inventory, ordering and delivery to appropriate areas
Problem solving and maintenance of office equipment which includes: photocopiers, fax machines and printers
Required Competencies and Behaviours:
A strong team player, but also must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Good interpersonal skills
Quick, efficient, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to handle multiple tasks with various deadlines
Strong organizational and time management skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the Health and Dental claims system (BEN/TOCS) would be an asset
Lifting is required (up to 30lbs)
Very reliable with excellent attendance
