Established in 1902, at Trenton Cold Storage our specialty is customized temperature-controlled warehousing and distribution. We provide Canada with more than 34,000,000 cubic feet of cold storage and refrigerated warehouse space in our seven Ontario and two Alberta facilities. We are looking for a Warehouse Supervisor to join our team.

Schedule: Flexibility in schedule and overtime work will be required. The position involves working on night shifts Monday to Friday, 10:00pm to 6:30am.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Warehouse manager, to direct and supervise all employees on shift and monitor daily tasks as well as ensure work is completed in a timely and efficient manner. Monitor warehousing processes for all accounts including dealing with customers, shipping, receiving, storage and handling. Responsible for supervising operators and helping to complete workload in a timely manner.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Run shift meeting and allocate workload to operators on shift.
- Monitor orders being filled.
- Record in the logbook a detailed summary of shift activities.
- Ensure Customer Support Department (CSD) receives necessary documentation.
- Supervise warehouse operators, monitor productivity, accuracy and adherence to safety procedures, assist operators when required, answer questions and provide guidance.
- Liaise with customers as required.
- Complete shift handover with the incoming supervisor and ensure communication between crews at shift change.
- Unload/load trucks.
- Ensure all employees have received adequate training.
- Complete computer tasks, answering emails, WMS, reports etc.
- Ensure all warehouse operators follow all safety instructions and work rules.
- Monitor all shipping and receiving.
- Help with problem solving/trouble-shooting in the warehouse.
- Check all daily paperwork and research discrepancies.
- Complete all daily reports.
- Complete and deliver warehouse operators performance appraisals with the Day Supervisor or Warehouse Manager.
- Disciple shift employees in accordance with company’s progressive discipline policy.
- Other duties as assigned.
HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be familiar with legislation’s and regulations that apply to the work being performed in the workplace. ( Part III Occupational Health & Safety Act)
- Maintain a safe and healthy occupational environment.
- Establishing and amending standard operating procedures.
- Training workers in healthy and safe work practices.
- Implementing mechanisms to monitor health and safety standards.
- Enforcing rules, procedures, safe practices and health and safety standards.
- Reporting and investigating incidents to appropriate warehouse manager.
- Developing and implementing equipment inspections and maintenance programs.
- Correcting unsafe acts.
- Identifying and informing superior of occupational health and safety concerns.
- Upon receiving a report of a Refusal to Work from a worker, the supervisor will investigate the report in the presence of a certified worker member of the Health and Safety Committee.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Some heavy lifting is required
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Intense visual concentration required when driving a forklift truck
- Exposure to extreme cold
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience as back up shift supervisor is required
- Must have organizational skills
- Must have good communication skills, both oral and written
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be approachable

- Must be available for shift work and overtime as required.
