ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Apprentice Trimmer/Sewer, you'll develop hands-on expertise across all aspects of automotive interior repair and upholstery, from diagnosing and disassembling interior components to sewing, foam shaping, and final quality checks. You'll work side-by-side with experienced trimmers, sewers, and shop management in a fast-paced, one-day-turnaround environment.
This is one of the most important roles in the shop. Vehicles that leave our door must meet and exceed our standards, every single day.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
● Learn and manage daily rotation of shop jobs to keep every vehicle on schedule
● Assess and communicate damages to the team and front-end staff
● Disassemble and reassemble automotive interior components to a professional standard
● Sew and assemble seat covers, panels, headliners, armrests, and more using industrial machines
● Cut, align, and stitch fabrics, leather, vinyl, and upholstery materials from patterns and templates
● Repair or replace damaged upholstery and plastic trim on vehicle interiors
● Support sewing, foam modification, and cover installation to meet daily deadlines
● Inspect finished work to ensure quality, durability, and proper fit before customer pick-up
● Keep your work area clean, tools maintained, and workspace safe
● Stay current on modern trends, styles, and techniques in automotive interiors
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Experience & Background
● A genuine passion for the automotive industry is a must, this is non-negotiable
● Experience in any of the following is a strong asset:
● Car audio / stereo installation
● Autobody repair or refinishing
● Vehicle detailing (interior or exterior)
● General mechanical or automotive trades work
● Prior upholstery or sewing experience is a bonus, but NOT required — we'll train the right person
● Experience in a workshop or hands-on trade environment is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
● Strong mechanical intuition, you understand how things come apart and go back together
● Sharp attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
● Ability to multitask and stay calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
● Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
● Solid time management and commitment to daily deadlines
● Clear communicator who works well within a team
● Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs
Education
● A trade, technical, or vocational background in automotive or upholstery services is advantageous

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
