Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, providing essential maintenance and repair services for a variety of heavy-duty equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, experience with heavy machinery, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. This role involves working with diesel engines, industrial equipment, and various power tools to ensure optimal operation and safety across our fleet and machinery.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on diesel engines, heavy equipment, and industrial machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, plows and salters.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively
- Assist with assembly, disassembly, and installation of components on various machinery
- Conduct heavy lifting tasks safely using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and industry regulations
- Collaborate with team members to improve maintenance procedures and operational efficiency
Skills
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engines and heavy equipment repair
- Dealership experience is a strong plus
- Knowledge of excavator, crane, forklift, HVAC systems, welding, electrical systems, and automotive repair
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex systems
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as industrial machinery or farm machinery
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Customer service skills for interacting with clients or internal teams regarding repairs or maintenance needs
- Experience in assembly or disassembly of mechanical components is desirable
- Familiarity with safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and industrial maintenance
