Job Summary

To store and maintain inventory levels of purchased parts for various departments. Delivery of correct amounts of parts required for daily production in various departments. Maintain and organize inventory within Cold Storage, Tent and Yard. Order replenishment parts from purchasing and keep open communication to ensure accurate records.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents
  • Record shortages and reject damaged goods
  • Accurate documenting of inventory
  • Report all inventory discrepancies to appropriate personnel
  • Verify production has the required materials at all times
  • Perform monthly and quarterly inventory counts to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Perform other material handling activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing and unpacking
  • Prioritize the delivery of steel to various departments in the plant
  • Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or using basic material handling equipment
  • May perform other activities, such as opening containers and crates, filling warehouse orders, assisting in taking inventory and weighing and checking materials
  • Yard clean up as deemed necessary (in conjunction with Shipping/Receiving)
  • Additional duties as required when requested by Management and/or supervisor

Working Conditions:

  • 40 hour work week (Monday to Friday, eight (8) hours per day)
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Physically demanding
  • Frequent standing, bending, walking, and stretching
  • Lifting of light and heavy materials

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent people & organizational skills
  • Be able to read and write English
  • Attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Willingness to learn and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Buhler forklift operator license is a requirement
  • Pallet Jack experience is an asset
  • Physical strength is required for heavy material moving
  • Previous experience in production/warehouse environment
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and hazardous goods
  • Knowledge of using computers (AS400 an asset)
  • Ability to read Engineered Drawings and use measuring devices (Tape Measure and Calipers) an asset
