Our Private Client Services (Wills & Estates) Group is seeking an energetic, team-oriented, and entrepreneurial Intermediate Legal Assistant to join our Vancouver office.
Key responsibilities:
- Drafting, preparing and typing of correspondence and various documents;
- Experience putting together record books, assisting with Will signings and preparing affidavits of execution;
- Preparing and maintaining a bring-forward system and diarizing meetings and appointments;
- Proofreading, revising and preparing of documents under the instruction of the legal professionals;
- Liaising between relevant internal and external parties;
- Experience with dictation, transcribing digital voicemails and transcription of data from various sources (i.e. voicemail, dictation tapes, applications, etc.);
- Communicating directly with clients in writing, over the phone and in person;
- Administrative duties such as managing email/calendar accounts, processing client invoices, electronic/hard copy filing and coordinating meetings, appointments, travel arrangements, expense reimbursements, etc.;
- Maintaining files in accordance with standard procedures, including opening and closing files;
- Excellent technical skills, including the ability to quickly pick up new applications (Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.));
- Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring:
- 5+ years of Legal Assistant experience, with a specialization in Wills & Estates;
- Experience with preparing affidavits of execution and assisting with the preparing and signing of Wills;
- A solid understanding of current legal terminology;
- Fast, accurate keyboarding skills; minimum 60 wpm;
- Strong dicta transcription skills;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Excellent proofreading skills (ability to check typed material for grammatical, typographical, spelling, word usage and format errors);
- The ability to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative;
- The willingness to learn and contribute to the team;
- Excellent manner with clients;
- A service-oriented approach when dealing with clients and colleagues.
Compensation:
We offer a competitive Total Rewards package with the expected range of the annual salary to be between $65,000 to $75,000.
The final salary is influenced by location of the job and may fluctuate based on qualifications, skills, and market considerations, ensuring alignment with internal equity standards.
