NewRoads Performing Arts Centre & Old Town Hall

Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! Working in Recreation means being apart of something special, gaining valuable work experience and learning new skills. We are looking for dedicated individuals who enjoy working with others with a passion to deliver high quality programs, events and services. One thing is for certain, you will love the experience and our participants will too!

The Successful Candidate will:

Provide courteous customer service to patrons before, during, and after performances at concession and bar areas.

Ensure public areas, lobbies, and seating areas are clean and tidy, including light cleaning duties between events and in between performances.

Organize and maintain storage rooms and front-of-house supplies.

Monitor facilities to ensure compliance with safety and accessibility standards. Assists patrons with accessibility needs, mobility devices or special accommodation as required.

Respond appropriately to patron inquiries and concerns.

Assist with opening and closing procedures for events.

Job Requirements

Experience in customer service, hospitality, or performing arts environments an asset.

Familiar with Town of Newmarket and the Town of Newmarket events an asset.

Smart Serve certification required or ability to obtain prior to employment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to deal courteously and effectively with all levels of staff, patrons, and the pubic.

Ability to meet the requirement of standing for extended periods and performing light lifting.

Work takes place in an active theatre environment with varying noise and lighting levels.

Current Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C certification required.

Working knowledge of health and safety legislation and associated procedures as it relates to the health and safety of patrons.

Availability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules including part-time, on-call hours based on performance schedules.

Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
