Reporting to the Director, HIE Projects, Business Analyst – HIE Projects will be part of an innovative team that manages projects withing Health Information Exchange (HIE) portfolio within HSS. The immediate focus of this opportunity would be to support Business Intelligence projects. The position requires critical-thinking skills, project management skills, an understanding of current business processes, knowledge of best practices, as well as effective communication skills. Along with BA work, the position may be utilized for project coordination. The position could be an excellent opportunity for candidates who wish to improve their project management skills.
Description:
As a Business Analyst, you will work as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies and operations of an organization, and to recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. You will interpret client needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to non-standard issues and requests, provide advice and direction to clients, and contribute to solutions by providing input into strategy, workflows and delivery for assigned projects and programs.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of a post-secondary degree in a related field, or equivalent level of education and experience.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Strong Business Analysis Skills. Experience in the development of business requirements, technical design, and solution development. A minimum of one (1) year experience in data management or data governance. A minimum of one (1) year supporting customers using Business Analyst skills for client consultations. An understanding of data and data relationships in the context of system integration points. Design and coordination of development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of technical corporate solutions. Provide input into solutions based on best practices. Strong knowledge of project lifecycle, management, and associated best practices. A strong collaborator who puts team success before their own. The ability to actively build and maintain positive client relationships. Ability to work with business areas to understand business requirements and develop solutions. The ability to research business problems and create solutions that address these business problems. Ability to produce documentation in the English language that is technically and grammatically correct, concise, clear, accurate, and of an appropriate readability to the intended audience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Good critical thinking and analytical abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric / Power BI / Copilot / Tableau / Snowflake / Hadoop. Overall knowledge of health system in Alberta along with IT systems that directly interact with Albertans. Business acumen and the ability to explain/translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
