Our client, Ontario Pork in Guelph, is looking for an Intermediate Software Developer to join their team on a fulltime, permanent basis. Ontario Pork represents about 1,200 pork producers who care for their animals and the environment while providing healthy, sustainable food for a hungry world.
At Ontario Pork, they develop most of their internal custom software which is quite complex, and all servers are housed internally in a virtual environment. They use Microsoft as their OS, SqlServer for their databases and IIS for their Web Server. Their applications are written using Visual Studio mostly C# and some Vb in a Client-Server architecture. They also exchange data using WCF, XML, CSV with a variety of other systems both nationally and provincially.

The candidate we are looking for an Intermediate Software developer with 5 years + experience and skilled in:
Sql Server – stored procedures, triggers, database design, queries, transactions, replication, query optimization and database maintenance
Visual Studio – C#, Vb, .NET, ASP.NET
Sql Server Reporting Services
Web Development experience would be an asset using ASP.Net and other tools
Knowledge of DotNetNuke would be beneficial
Experience in software design, user requirements, documentation, testing and implementation would be an asset
Programs are all built on top of a home-grown application framework written in C# that the candidate will be required to learn. Familiarity using or designing application frameworks would be beneficial
Solid foundation in object oriented design principles
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Familiar with Microsoft Office Tools
Duties would include
Analyzing user requests for software changes or new modules, designing solutions and plans for those changes, coding, testing and implementation.
Performing database custom queries in order to fulfill user data requests
Developing and deploying reports
Monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting the database and software
Developing/Enhancing data exchange processes between OP and external organizations
Some technical documentation
Some day to day user assistance or troubleshooting
Experience in the pork industry would be considered an asset.
