We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join a growing fleet maintenance team supporting a diverse range of medium and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and utility/hydraulic equipment.
This role combines shop-based repairs and field service work, ensuring fleet reliability, safety, and uptime through preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and emergency repairs.
Key Responsibilities: Heavy Duty Mechanic – Fleet & Utility Equipment
Fleet Maintenance
- Service and repair medium and heavy-duty trucks and trailers
- Maintain and repair hydraulic-mounted equipment
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance inspections
- Conduct routine fleet inspections and servicing
Diagnostics & Repairs
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system issues
- Repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform field repairs
- Complete troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
Field Service
- Provide roadside and on-site fleet repairs
- Operate service truck for customer/fleet locations
- Occasional overnight travel may be required
Documentation & Shop Operations
- Complete work orders and maintenance records
- Track parts usage and repair history
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Coordinate daily priorities with the Garage Foreman
Requirements: Heavy Duty Mechanic – Fleet & Utility EquipmentEducation
- High School Diploma required
- Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Truck & Transport apprenticeship preferred
Experience
- Minimum 1st-year apprentice level or higher in a mechanical trade
- Experience with:
- Heavy-duty truck repair
- Hydraulic systems
- Diesel engines
- Electrical diagnostics
- Preventative maintenance programs
Certifications & Licensing
- Valid Class 1A or Class 3A driver’s license (mandatory)
- Clean driver’s abstract
- Must supply own tools
Additional Assets
- Welding experience
- Utility or construction equipment experience
- Road service experience
