Our client, a well-established company located in Ottawa's East End, is currently seeking a skilled and dependable Tin Shop Helper to join their team on a full-time. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Manufacture custom conduits in accordance with customer specifications or as directed by the supervisor
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently (Sheet metal machinery, manual tools, drill, spot welder, plasma machine etc.)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the department
- Perform other duties related to the position and carry out additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Required skills and qualifications:
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience operating hand and power tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment-related issues
- Proven ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, technical drawings, plans, and project specifications
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively as part of a team
- Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to producing quality workmanship
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Solid understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, policies, and safe work practices
Assets:
- Reliable transportation required; own vehicle preferred (location is accessible by public transit)
- Previous experience operating a brake press and/or shear machine is an asset
- Bilingual (English/French) communication skills are considered a strong asset
