The Financial Reporting Analyst supports the NTHSSA mandate through the regular provision of detailed financial analysis, planning and reporting aimed at ensuring appropriate use of limited resources and enhancing system understanding. The Financial Reporting Analyst regularly makes recommendations to senior management on the financial implications of policy and program decisions. Detailed analysis and reporting conducted by the Financial Reporting Analyst will support all reporting requirements of the Authority. Examples of the detailed analysis and reporting regularly required include monthly variance reports, quarterly variance analysis, budget preparation, review and feedback, annual reports, minister briefing and speaking notes, information items and decision papers for consideration by the FMB.

Typically attained by:
Completion of a University Degree (Commerce, Finance or Economics) combined with two years directly related experience and/or 4th level of a recognized professional accounting program (e.g., CGA, CMA) combined with two years directly related experience.
Directly Related Experience:

Preparing or contributing to financial monitoring reports, variance analyses, or expenditure forecasts within a government, health, or public sector environment.

Supporting the preparation of business cases, funding submissions, decision papers, or briefing materials for senior management or central agencies.

Conducting budget preparation, reconciliation, or analysis activities, including tracking actuals against approved budgets and identifying cost drivers.

Preparing cost projection models.

Applying financial legislation, regulations, or policy frameworks ¿ such as the Financial Administration Act, GAAP, or Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) to assess program or operational impacts.

Providing financial advice or analytical support to program managers, including interpreting financial data, and recommending corrective actions.

Working with computerized financial management systems and advanced spreadsheet tools to generate and analyze financial reports.

Contributing to the development or maintenance of financial procedures, chart of accounts, or internal controls within a finance function.
