Job Overview

The Investment Analyst is responsible for researching strategic investment alternatives, contributing to external investment manager selection, due diligence and performance monitoring, and preparing reports for investment decision makers.

The ideal candidate will be relied upon to assess opportunities and deliver recommendations that will have a significant impact on the company’s investment portfolio

Job Responsibilities

Contibutes to the initiation, research, development and implementation of strategic investment initiatives including new asset classes and risk management strategies.

Reviews and analyses the ongoing review and analysis of third party investment management performance.

Contributes to external investment manager selection and due diligence.

Implements external investment manager transitions.

Prepares investment reports for The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company, Wawanesa General Insurance Company and the pension plans of the companies.

Assesses the investment policy and regulatory compliance of the companies and their pension plans.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum two years’ experience in related discipline.

Undergraduate degree in Finance or a relevant discipline.

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or commitment to pursue the CFA Charter.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills and other applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Adaptable to a changing environment by adjusting effectively to change, exploring the benefits, trying new approaches, and collaborating with others to make the change successful

Strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly, clarify and ask probing questions to ensure understanding and write in a clear and concise manner

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, detail oriented, able to work with a high level of accuracy

Strong organization skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to examine all information completely to identify relevance and impact

A team player with demonstrated motivation and enthusiasm.

Ability to travel to the USA, occasionally

Experience with Bloomberg or investment consulting software is considered an asset.
