Caregiver Opportunity – Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Schedule: Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM (2 hours/visit) Location: Sault Ste. Marie, ON (apartment building)
About the Client: This role supports a female client in her late 70s living independently in her own apartment in Sault Ste. Marie. The client is largely self-sufficient but is beginning to need a little extra support. She receives Meals on Wheels and manages most daily tasks on her own — the primary needs are medication reminders and companionship. Her son, who lives in Waterloo, is coordinating care remotely and is looking to start as soon as possible.
The client is cognitively intact and socially engaged — she simply needs a reliable, friendly presence a few times a week. Medication reminders are the top practical priority at each visit. She may need occasional help retrieving her Meals on Wheels delivery. The client tends to get up later in the morning and is flexible on visit timing within the mid-morning to early afternoon window. No personal care is required at this stage.
Responsibilities:
Medication reminders — reminding the client to take her medications at the correct time during each visit Companionship and social engagement — spending genuine, engaging time with the client; conversation, light activities, and a warm consistent presence are the core of this role Meals on Wheels assistance — helping the client retrieve her meal delivery as needed General wellness check — observing the client's overall wellbeing and flagging any concerns to the family
What We're Looking For:
PSW certification or equivalent experience in personal support or companion care Warm, friendly, and socially engaging — companionship is the primary focus Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision Reliable and consistent — the client's son coordinates care remotely and needs confidence that visits are happening as scheduled Strong communication with the coordinating family member
Schedule: Starting schedule: Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM (2 hours/visit) The family is looking to start as soon as possible. Hours may increase over time as needs evolve.
