Summary:
Under the direction of the Team Lead, the Haul Truck Operator is responsible for the operations of equipment in a safe, productive, and efficient manner according to the scope of the project and the work being performed. The operator will also keep clean and maintain the equipment and comply with all policies and procedures in the operation and securement of the equipment.
This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing. In addition, this position may require the successful completion of client training and a competency assessment.
Key Focus:
- Operate heavy equipment to move, load and unload materials
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and keep the truck clean
- Must be able to work shift rotations; days and nights
- Must be dependable and reliable
- Required to comply with all road regulations on site
- Be alert to risks or threats in order to prevent losses before they occur
- Give proper care to the operation and maintenance of the equipment
- Report all damage of the equipment to the Team Leader
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience operating Caterpillar 777,785, 789,793,797, Komatsu 980 is required
- Oil and Gas industry experience is considered an asset
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
- College or industry courses in heavy equipment operating is considered an asset
- Retention of a valid class five (5) driver’s license and clean drivers abstract is required - please submit abstract when applying
- Valid CSO or BSO or combination of CSTS and OSSA is required
- Ability to speak, write and read English is required
- LPS training is considered an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
These are full time positions located north of Fort McMurray, AB
Work Schedule: 6 on, 6 off schedule; 3 days and 3 nights (Must be eligible to work on Syncrude site)
