Production Worker

Hempco is recruiting a Production Worker to join our plant in Nisku, AB. This person will be responsible for performing production tasks according to standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and manufacturing guidelines and will complete quality records for manufactured products, create and distribute reports on daily production and maintain accurate production logs. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, self-driven, have strong attention to detail and be comfortable performing repetitive tasks, under minimal supervision. This position allows training and career progression in various areas of the business.

Read or write and understand specific work instruction and procedures. Understand and practice sharing information with others
Ensure that production equipment, tools and machinery are functional at all times
Start up production machinery at the beginning of each shift and ensure proper closing down at the end
Make specific adjustments to production machinery to ensure quality control and efficiency of production work
Ensure that production work is performed by following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and job safety analysis
Operate various pieces of equipment (decorticator, baler, forklift and tractor) to maintain material supplies for the production line
Ensure that work areas are clean and maintained so that safety of production workers is maintained
Measure ingredients and products accurately so that optimal levels of production can met
Ensure that end products conform to Hempco’s quality and quantity standards
Coordinate efforts with production and warehouse workers to ensure safe loading of finished products onto forklifts and delivery vehicles
Weigh and store finished products and ensure that all pertinent information is recorded in logs
Use knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for improvements and savings

1-3 years’ experience in a Production Worker role
Food manufacturing experience preferred but not required
QC, basic lab testing, HACCP & GMP experience highly regarded
Experience with power tools, grinders, saws, and/or equipment maintenance a plus
Ability to handle the challenges of high volume, fast turnaround environment, while simultaneously ensuring quality products
Strong attention to detail
