Employer Connector – West Yellowhead Region
Location: Hinton or Edson, AB
Travel Required: Throughout the West Yellowhead Region, including Hinton, Grande Cache,
Jasper, Edson, and surrounding communities

Through our employment services, adult learning, and community support programs, we work with job seekers, employers, and community partners to strengthen our local workforce and build inclusive communities.
Position Summary
The Employer Connector plays a key role in connecting employers with qualified job seekers while helping businesses address workforce challenges and labour shortages. This position is responsible for employer outreach, relationship development, job development, labour market intelligence, and community engagement throughout the West Yellowhead Region. Working closely with Employment Advisors and other HALS staff, the Employer Connector develops employment opportunities for participants, builds strong partnerships with local employers, and helps ensure successful employment outcomes for both job seekers and businesses. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys networking, building relationships, understanding workforce trends, and creating opportunities that benefit both employers and community members.
Key Responsibilities
Employer Outreach and Relationship Development
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with employers across a variety of industries.
- Conduct regular employer visits, phone calls, meetings, and networking activities.
- Identify and engage new employers to expand HALS's employer network.
- Learn and understand employer workforce needs, recruitment challenges, and future hiring plans.
- Serve as a trusted resource for employers seeking workforce solutions.
- Promote H.E.L.P.'s employment services, training opportunities, and workforce supports.
- Build collaborative partnerships with industry groups, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, municipalities, Indigenous organizations, and community agencies.
Job Development and Employment Placement
- Work collaboratively with Employment Advisors to identify suitable employment opportunities for participants.
- Review participant goals, skills, experience, and support needs to assist with effective job matching.
- Develop employment opportunities, work experience placements, job shadowing opportunities, and work exposure activities.
- Identify unadvertised employment opportunities through employer outreach and relationship building.
- Support employers and participants during onboarding and the early stages of employment.
- Monitor placements and maintain communication with employers and participants to encourage successful employment retention.
- Promote inclusive hiring practices and assist employers in recruiting individuals facing barriers to employment.
Labour Market Intelligence and Workforce Development
- Monitor labour market trends, emerging occupations, workforce shortages, and regional economic developments.
- Gather information from employers regarding current and anticipated workforce needs.
- Identify skills gaps and training opportunities that can improve participant employability.
- Share labour market intelligence with Employment Advisors and management to support service planning.
- Assist in identifying sectors with strong employment potential and growth opportunities.
- Contribute to workforce development initiatives that strengthen the regional labour market.
Community Engagement and Representation
- Represent HALS at community events, employer forums, job fairs, networking events, and stakeholder meetings.
- Participate in community partnerships that support workforce development and employment initiatives.
- Promote awareness of employment services available to employers and job seekers.
- Support collaborative projects that strengthen employment opportunities within the region.
Administration and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of employer contacts, outreach activities, job opportunities, placements, and outcomes.
- Utilize COMPASS, MOBIUS and other reporting systems to document activities and results.
- Prepare reports and activity summaries as required.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, program requirements, and funding expectations.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in Business, Human Resources, Career Development, Community Development, Marketing, Employment Services, or a related field.
- Experience in employer engagement, recruitment, business development, sales, workforce development, employment services, or community relations.
- Experience working with diverse populations and individuals facing barriers to employment is considered an asset.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Apple devices and database systems.
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean drivers abstract.
- Reliable vehicle and ability to travel throughout the West Yellowhead Region.
- Ability to occasionally attend evening or community events.
