North by Northwest Ventures is looking for an experienced Landscape Maintenance professional to lead and manage NXNW’s commercial and residential maintenance projects throughout the Lower Mainland. We are seeking an individual who consistently produces exceptional work and brings strong expertise in plant identification, horticulture, arboriculture, and estimating, paired with creativity and professionalism.
This position is intended for a highly experienced maintenance professional with the ability to manage crews, conduct on-site estimates, interface directly with clients, and elevate garden spaces beyond standard maintenance. You are punctual, creative, and personable. You are a full-stack maintenance professional who can teach others, run toolbox meetings, and help deliver landscapes worthy of industry recognition.
The primary function of this role is to maintain high-end commercial landscapes and gardens to an exceptional standard while also identifying opportunities for additional work, improvements, and client-requested upgrades, and preparing accurate estimates for that work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure excellent plant health and immaculate presentation of all garden spaces, including:
- Accurate plant identification
- Pruning of ornamental trees, shrubs, and hedges
- Weeding, lawn care, mowing, pest control, bed work, and precise line edging
- Apply creativity and horticultural knowledge to improve and refine garden spaces over time.
- Clean and maintain all hardscape and paved areas.
- Install plant material and complete garden renovations as required.
- Conduct on-site estimates for maintenance improvements, seasonal work, and garden renovations requested by clients.
- Accurately scope, price, and prepare work proposals in coordination with management.
- Lead by example as a team player with a focus on optimism, passion, and problem-solving.
- Efficiently complete landscape tasks according to plans, with a strong balance of quality and production time.
- Maintain clear, professional client-facing communication, including on-site discussions, recommendations, and follow-ups.
- Communicate effectively with management teams and crew members.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and maintenance scopes to perform work activities accurately.
REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated career in horticulture with experience maintaining commercial and residential landscapes.
- Strong knowledge of plant identification and plant care across a range of landscape environments.
- Proven ability to conduct site visits, develop scopes of work, and produce accurate estimates for maintenance and small construction projects.
- Horticulture Diploma, Certified Landscape Technician, or equivalent hands-on experience is a major asset.
- High personal standards and an expectation of excellence in quality of work.
- Strong professional character, client service skills, and crew leadership abilities.
- Ability to safely use and teach others the operation of all common maintenance equipment and tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot, fix, and maintain equipment when required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Experience driving trucks with trailers is a major asset.
