Hewitts Farm Market and Bakery is seeking an enthusiastic and self motivated experienced Manager to run the bakery and lead the team in the bakery in delivering high quality products. The Bakery Manager will work directly with the Head Baker to support and ensure quality, homemade products are executed to the standards of Hewitts and the expectations of its customers in a positive and fun environment in the bakery .

Qualifications:

Understanding of homemade quality products and passion for quality scratch baking/cooking

Self motivated individual with strong attention to detail and quality control

Exceptional people and communication skills to motivate and encourage staff development while working alongside staff and other members of Hewitts management team

Baking, chef or culinary experience would be an asset but training would be provided if the candidate has the eagerness to learn and the managerial experience that would compliment our bakery

Ability and understanding of the need to work in a fast-paced seasonal and growing environment

Reliable and hard working with a focus on meeting deadlines with a sense of urgency

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Email an asset

Experience in managing and developing employees

Ability to plan and implement effective and coordinated production schedules

Ability to hire, train, supervise, motivate, and manage bakery team members

Confidence in effective and efficient problem solving and finding alternative solutions in systems and processes

Ability to deal with adversity

Duties:

Determining an outline of daily production goals

Development of weekly production schedules

Analyze prior sales history to determine long term production plans

Hire, train, develop, mentor and motivate all employees in a manner which builds and sustains a high performing team and minimizes turnover

Calculation and reporting of production costs, product yields, reducing waste, increasing profit margin, recipe costing

Create a very open working environment which empowers staff to achieve success and thrive in the workplace through leadership, direction, prioritization of workload and organized schedule of duties

Engage with staff daily to create and maintain a positive and productive team atmosphere

Work with Head Baker on a daily basis to communicate production deadlines and instruction and to ensure these schedules are attainable and met

Timely ordering of ingredients and supplies as communicated through inventory maintenance of Head Baker and also determined by self when overseeing bakery needs and forecasting high production periods

Managing/maintaining/updating inventory of ingredients, supplies and product

Providing updates and recommendations at weekly management meetings

Work with Head Baker with overseeing and execution of all baking and preserving products for retail & wholesale

Assisting Head Baker with training and overseeing of new and existing employees

Supporting the Head Baker in identifying and familiarization of workplace policies and procedures, health and safety practices, proper dress code and cleaning requirements to staff

Demonstrate leadership, problem solving and decision making for the success of bakery timelines

Ensure that all items produced in the bakery meet quality control as instructed by owners and following food safety standards

Ensure staff knowledge and implementation of health and safety is instilled in the bakery at all times

Updating recipes once approved through management when necessary

Research and presentation of all costing for new bakery products and packaging to owners

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $17.00 to $19.00 /hour
