Out-of-School Care Early Childhood Educator
Glenora Child Care Society (GCCS) is seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to join our team as an Out-of-School Care Educator.
About the Role
As an Out-of-School Care Educator, your primary role will be within our OSC program, working with children from Kindergarten to Grade 6. You will work collaboratively with our team to create a safe, inclusive, engaging, and fun environment where children can build relationships, explore their interests, be active, and enjoy their time outside of the school day.
This position will also provide support within our daycare program, including helping to cover educator lunch breaks, planning time, and other staffing needs. Because of this, the successful candidate must be comfortable and confident working with children across a wide range of ages, from 12 months to 12 years old.
Our programs value strong relationships, child-led experiences, active play, and plenty of time outdoors. We are looking for an educator who enjoys being actively involved with children—whether that means getting down on the floor with our youngest children, joining a game outside, getting messy with an art experience, helping children work through a challenge, or simply taking the time to connect and listen.
The anticipated shift for this position will be approximately 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, Monday to Friday. However, applicants must have the flexibility and availability to work shifts between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM based on program and staffing needs.

- Is comfortable spending significant time outdoors in all seasons—including Edmonton winters!
- Understands the importance of active supervision and being present, attentive, and engaged with children
- Can adapt their approach to meet the very different developmental needs of toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarten children, and older school-age children
- Can plan and create meaningful indoor and outdoor experiences based on children's interests
- Supports children's independence, confidence, friendships, problem-solving skills, and overall development
- Builds strong, respectful, and nurturing relationships with children and families
- Understands that school-age children need a balance of choice, downtime, active play, creativity, and connection outside of their school day
- Is flexible and willing to move between programs and classrooms to support planning time, lunch breaks, and staffing needs
- Is dependable, takes initiative, and recognizes where support is needed without always needing direction
- Works collaboratively and positively as part of a team
