Bi-Weekly Hours: 75.0 hours Bi-weekly (Beginning Immediately until August 31st, 2021)The purpose of this position is to Assist the Director in responsibilities related to business education programs and career and technical education programs (which includes, culinary arts, skilled trades, intermediate technical education and home economics, and other technical programs defined by the program of studies).Competencies: - The ability to provide strong leadership and support to foster a team approach to problem solving;- embraces diverse perspectives and are considered an inclusive, collaborative leader;- the ability to respond to challenges with innovative solutions and demonstrate a willingness to generate new and imaginative ways of dealing with issues;- demonstrates success in building capacity and inspiring excellence and accountability in teams;- demonstrates knowledge of current research and best practice in learning as related to areas of responsibility is required;- demonstrates knowledge of current research and best practices in numeracy and literacy as related to areas of responsibility is required;- demonstrates knowledge of effective use of technology to support the delivery of programs in the areas of responsibility;- demonstrates excellent writing skills, learning and innovation skills, and digital literacy skills.Duties: - researching and monitoring all curriculum in the areas of responsibility to provide recommendations regarding the development, growth, and maintenance of programs;- facilitating the development of curriculum in the areas of responsibility;- providing leadership, vision, and support to school authorities and schools to maximize curriculum, programs, and initiatives in the areas of responsibility;- providing in-service for educators related to programs in the area of responsibility;- coordinating the maintenance and distribution of resources to support programs in the areas of responsibility;- liaising with partners in other divisions within the Department, other government departments and agencies, post-secondary institutions, industry, and community and business organizations;- reviewing, making recommendations, and, where necessary, facilitating the development of provincial guidelines and procedures in areas of responsibility;- supporting the Accelerated Secondary Apprenticeship Program (ASAP), and the Skills Canada Program;- preparing reports as required;- serving as a member or chairperson of designated committees;- performing other related duties as requested by the Director.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor in Education, preferably a Master’s Degree in Education or related discipline.- applicants must hold, or be eligible to hold a PEI Teacher's Academic Certificate Level 5 or higher or PEI Teacher's Career and Technical Level 3 or higher. - Applicants must have extensive recent experience in facilitating student and/or teacher learning using current curricula at the intermediate, high school, apprenticeship, and/or post-secondary level.- Demonstrated a good record of previous attendance and work record.- The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check prior to beginning employment.Preference will be given to members of the UPSE Civil bargaining unit Please Note: Please ensure the application clearly demonstrates how you meet the noted qualifications as applicants will be screened based on the information provided.
