Position: Cash Application Clerk

The Cash Application Clerk plays a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of customer accounts by ensuring payments are processed, applied, and reconciled accurately and on a timely basis.
Reporting to the Finance Officer, this position works closely with Accounts Receivable, Billing, Customer Service, Sales, and Operations teams to investigate payment discrepancies, reconcile customer remittances, maintain accurate financial records, and support the organization's cash flow management processes.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working with large volumes of financial transactions in a fast-paced transportation environment.
Responsibilities:
- Process and apply customer payments received by EFT, cheque, wire transfer, credit card, and other payment methods.
- Match customer payments to invoices, freight bills, and customer accounts.
- Investigate and resolve unapplied cash, unidentified remittances, short payments, overpayments, duplicate payments, and customer deductions.
- Reconcile daily cash receipts, deposits, payment batches, and customer remittances.
- Maintain accurate records of customer payments and account activity.
- Communicate with customers to obtain remittance information and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Accounts Receivable, Billing, Sales, Customer Service, and Operations teams to resolve account issues.
- Prepare reports related to cash receipts, unapplied cash, payment trends, deductions, and reconciliation activities.
- Support month-end and year-end financial close activities.
- Assist with audit requests and financial reporting requirements.
- Maintain compliance with company accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve cash application processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.Filing

Qualifications & Key Competencies:
- Two-year Accounting Diploma or equivalent education required.
- Minimum two years of accounting, cash application, accounts receivable, banking, or related financial experience preferred.
- Transportation and logistics industry experience is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and cash application processes.
- Experience working with accounting software, ERP systems, and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is considered an asset.
- Proficient knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel
- Proficient in data entry and management
- Knowledge of accounts payable
- Knowledge of general accounting procedures
- Confidentiality; Information management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Good analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
Hours and Location:
- Monday to Friday: 07:00 – 15:30
- Terminal Location: Delta, BC
Remuneration:
$25.00 per hour
6 month contract
