Unit Summary

The MSA represents and advocates for the interests of the Medical Staff and for the patients we serve, with the leadership of HHS, and provides communication between HHS leadership and the MSA membership. Our objectives are:
  • to ensure excellence in patient care at HHS
  • to create an environment of trust for the Medical Staff
  • to support the best interests and advocate for the Medical staff
  • to foster leadership development to ensure the Medical Staff can play an effective role in HHS governance, decision-making, and planning
MSA is responsible for holding quarterly meetings of the general membership to address and share information on issues relevant to the MSA membership. The MSA provides support, advice, and advocacy for members of the Medical Staff who are experiencing difficulties in the workplace, ensuring that due process is followed so that issues can be resolved in a confidential and effective manner and strives to create a collegial, collaborative, and trusting work environment for its members across all HHS sites.

Position Summary

The Administrative Assistant to the Medical Staff Association (MSA) and MSA President provides support to the association members. Duties include, but are not limited to, leading communication between the MSA Executive and membership through a variety of mediums; edit, create and maintain web site content; support the MSA's mission through all workplace activities; manage both MSA Executive and MSA membership meetings and support the MSA annual election process. Other projects to support and promote the mission of the MSA as required.

Schedule Work Hours

Part Time; Monday to Friday

This position is temporary until January 2021.

Qualifications

1. Graduate of a medical administration program or equivalent
2. Minimum of 5 years of recent, relevant experience in a senior administrative role
3. Advanced computer skills in a Windows environment including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint and comfortable with learning new computer skills as required
4. Excellent minute-taking skills
5. Proficient keyboarding skills (60 wpm)
6. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
7. Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative, develop and initiate systems that create efficient workflow, establish priorities and meet deadlines effectively
8. Demonstrated excellence in effective communication and interpersonal skills within a professional environment
9. Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment
10. Demonstrated ability to appreciate confidential nature of the position
