Letcar Mechanical is looking for a Journeyperson or 4th Year Apprentice Sheet Metal Worker in Fort McMurray, Alberta to join our growing team and support commercial and industrial sheet metal projects.
This role is ideal for a motivated sheet metal professional who takes pride in quality workmanship, works safely and efficiently, and enjoys a variety of project types. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on new commercial and industrial installations, as well as repair and replacement projects, including HVAC duct deficiency repairs.
Depending on experience and preference, employees may have the flexibility to work on either:
- 12 days on / 2 days off rotational schedules
- Local in-town 5 days on / 2 days off schedules with overtime opportunities available
Responsibilities include:
- Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair HVAC ductwork systems (low, medium, and high pressure)
- Install industrial ventilation systems, exhaust systems, air handling units, and related components
- Perform layout, measuring, cutting, fitting, and installation of sheet metal components
- Operate shears, brakes, rollers, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment
- Seal, insulate, and pressure-test duct systems to applicable standards and codes
- Troubleshoot installation issues and make field adjustments as required
- Ensure all work complies with Alberta Building Code and site safety requirements
- Complete work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of quality and craftsmanship
- Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and other trades to ensure project success
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner
For 4th Year Apprentices:
- Assist with fabrication and installation of ductwork and HVAC components
- Read and interpret drawings, layouts, and specifications under supervision
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install duct sections accurately
- Support Journeypersons with layout, rigging, hoisting, and system installation
- Gain hands-on experience with commercial and industrial sheet metal applications, tools, and fabrication equipment
Requirements:
- Journeyperson Sheet Metal Certificate or Registered 4th Year Apprentice
- Experience in commercial and/or industrial sheet metal installation
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings
- Strong knowledge of HVAC duct systems and installation practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation considered an asset
- Commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing
Pay: $45.00-$50.00 per hour

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
