Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Manager of Oncology Clinical Programs, the Systemic Therapy Program (STP) Pharmacist hired to this position will have a primary focus on pre-printed order development/ revision/dissemination; and systemic therapy quality improvement and safety. Working in collaboration with Cancer Site Teams, provincial stakeholders, and the STP Team, key responsibilities will include leadership and/or participation on various provincial working groups/committees, including chair of the NSCCP PPO Working Group and Provincial Systemic Therapy Quality Improvement and Safety Committee. In addition, this STP Pharmacist position will provide coverage for the STP Pharmacist overseeing the cancer drug funding.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a university program in Pharmacy
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program preferred
  • Licensed to practice Pharmacy in the Province of Nova Scotia
  • Registered with the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada
  • Minimum five years’ clinical pharmacy experience in a teaching academic hospital; 3 of which are in oncology in a hospital setting preferred
  • Experience as an oncology clinical pharmacist in a teaching/academic hospital setting
  • Experience in Pre-Printed Order development required.
  • Experience with quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of cancer systemic therapy and modalities
  • Experience and knowledge of the review of clinical trials for scientific merit
  • Ability to acquire, analyze and report drug utilization data
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make accurate and timely recommendations regarding safe and cost-effective use of drugs
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Permanent Full-time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly
Salary Information

$39.9501 - $48.6980 hourly
