Position Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, inquiry-based instruction aligned with IB principles and the Ontario curriculum. The ideal candidate will create a supportive classroom environment that encourages students to think critically, communicate effectively, collaborate with others, and become independent learners.
Experience teaching IB courses or working within an IB framework is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with IB and Ontario curriculum expectations.
- Use inquiry-based, student-centred teaching strategies.
- Develop assessments, assignments, projects, and learning activities that promote critical thinking.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.
- Monitor student achievement and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate student records and assessment documentation.
- Support students in developing the IB Learner Profile attributes.
- Encourage independent learning, research, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching practices into classroom instruction.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary learning.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school activities, and extracurricular programs.
- Contribute to a positive school culture grounded in respect, integrity, leadership, and community service.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant subject area.
- Valid Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or eligibility for certification is preferred.
- Previous secondary school teaching experience.
- Experience teaching IB courses, MYP, DP, or another internationally recognized curriculum is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Secondary School curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for students with diverse learning needs.
- Commitment to student achievement, well-being, and continuous professional development.
- Experience working in a multicultural and inclusive school environment is an asset.
Preferred IB Experience
Preference may be given to candidates who have:
- Previous experience teaching IB courses.
- IB Category 1, 2, or 3 training.
- Experience with inquiry-based learning.
- Experience developing IB assessments and units.
- Familiarity with IB assessment criteria and approaches to teaching and learning.
- Experience supporting students with research, independent learning, and academic writing.
