About the role

We are looking for a Superintendent – Finance, to join the Business Partner team, who are responsible for the provision of end to end commercial and financial activities at Diavik, reporting to the Manager Finance. This is a key leadership role in the finance team that supports Diavik Diamond Mine, with opportunities to shape the financial direction of the business.

This role is a great opportunity to be an integral part of the Diavik finance team, using your discipline expertise to ensure that historical and forward looking financial information is accurate, clearly communicated to key stakeholders. Moreover, you will build an understanding of the asset’s full potential and partner with operational leaders to maximize value.

Working on a Monday to Friday schedule, and periodically at Lac de Gras site, you will be reporting to the Manager Finance, supporting the operational and functional teams within Diavik.

Your main responsibilities will be:
Build awareness of the key financial drivers of success and partner with operational leaders to deliver Diavik’s full potential
Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of historic analysis, forward looking planning and forecasting activities for departments and the overall operation to drive operational performance and decision making
Coordinate and assist in the preparation and analysis of reporting of plan and actuals to the Rio Tinto Group as well as meeting JV obligations
Ensure all transactions and accounting activities are in compliance with Group and/or local policy and procedures including ensuring relevant systems and controls, and support statutory and internal audit activities
Management of third party service providers, supporting finance, accounting and procurement as required
About you

To succeed in this role, you will have:
Bachelor in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
Tertiary qualifications, with at least 5 years of experience
Post tertiary qualification (eg Certified Public Accountant, MBA) is preferred, but not essential
Relevant analytical, planning and reporting experience
Experience with partnering and influencing in a matrix organization, to deliver value
Excellent communication skills, both internally within Diavik and externally to Rio Tinto
Strong computer skills including excel with understanding of general ledger software is desirable particularly SAP software.
